Great Sierra River Clean Up of Lake Tahoe

Saturday, September 16, 2017

Do you love having a blue Lake and clean streams in our Tahoe backyard?  So do we!  But when we get to work, live and play in a city in the midst of Sierra wilderness, keeping our waters blue and clean takes some team effort.

The Great Sierra River Cleanup, a project of the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, is a growing network of local lake and stream-side community clean ups held in conjunction with Coastal Cleanup Day.  Keeping our alpine waterways clean of litter and debris is critical to protecting water quality here in our community as well as downstream –from the foothills, to Sacramento, to the Central Valley, the Bay and the ocean.

Just three hours of volunteering with your co-workers, family, neighbors and classmates makes a HUGE difference!  Last year, more than 100 volunteers from Tahoe communities picked up 825 lbs. of trash from beaches, streams and streambanks all around the South Shore.  Join us this year on Saturday, September 16th!  Register here!
